Text Box: Bowling Shoes

What is the difference between a regular shoe, a bowling shoe, and a $200 professional bowling shoe?  Bowling shoes have a slide material which allows you to slowly come to a stop when throwing a bowling ball.  Sneakers would cause a normal bowler to trip and hurt themselves which is why special shoes are required.  There are essentially 3 types of bowling shoes:

1: Universal Slide Sole (Left or Right Handed):  This style of bowling shoe has the slide material on both left and right feet allowing a left handed or right handed bowler to use this type of shoe.  This is the style of shoe most rentals and beginner style shoes are designed like.

2: Left/Right Hand specific style shoes incorporate one traction sole and one slide sole.  This is superior to the universal slide sole in that it allows bowlers to gain more leverage going into their slide.  This results in more stability at the foul line and more consistency during the course of their games.

3: Removable/changeable slide soles/heel style shoes allow the bowler to customize their material of their slide and/or heel to match up to the surface and condition of the bowling approaches.  With this freedom to change, you have more control over your slide than with a one slide/one heel shoe system.
